Conservatives are less intelligent than liberals. No ‘conservative’ scholar can compare to the the liberal elite class in raw brain power. Any scholar of merit, who is not a liberal, is not a conservative. He is either a libertarian or a weirdo. Someone like Michael Oakeshott would be repelled to be associated with these brainless, populist incompetents.
Conservatives go around confusing capitalism with wall street, defense with world empire, republican government with freedom and Christianity with ethics. They don’t know the first thing about philosophy or economics. Though they often like to soil the good name of libertarian and anti-leftist writers, they have likely never read these authors and would be appalled if they did.
The stupidity of conservatives is paramount when confronted by anything seriously critical of a Republican administration, the American Revolution, foreign policy or nationalist identarianism. Partly this is because they do not understand these things for what they are – left-wing big government collectivism – and partly because they are, themselves, a variant of left-liberals – left-wing big government collectivists.
The left often accuses conservatives of being racist, but this isn’t true. Rather they present a More-PC-Than-Thou attitude, going to extreme lengths to prove that it’s really the left-wing who are racists and fascists. Speaking of fascism, a litmus test can be easily conjectured. If you support big government programs, world-wide ideological crusades and anti-fascist rhetoric you are a left-winger. Yet this is exactly what the halcyon days in conservative mythology are: World War 2.
Other authors more interested than me have gone on at great length about how the anti-war sort who distrusted centralized government were expelled from the Conservative movement from World War 2’s jingoistic patriotism up through Bill “Finally Dead” Buckley, Jr.’s rotary socialism. What that finally gave us were the Neo-Conservatives, who are basically Lovestonites and Trotskyites calling themselves ‘conservative’. More than that the Republican party has been, from its inception, the party of centralized government, warfare, welfare, printing-press fiat money and economic regulation.
Conservatives, of course, know none of this. That’s because they’re idiots.
